17th Convocation Details
The College has successfully concluded its 17th Convocation held on 17-10-2016.
Around three hundred graduates were awarded B. Sc and M. Sc Home Economics Degree in Convocation hall, University of Peshawar. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Higher Education and information and Pro Chancellor UoP was the chief guest of the day. He conferred degrees and medals on the students. The chief guest was accompanied by Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan, Secretary Higher Education Fahim Wazir, Dean Faculty of Management and Information Sciences Prof. Dr. Bushra Hamid and Principal College of Home Economics Prof. Dr. Syeda Kaniz Fatima Haider.
For outstanding achievement in B. Sc Home Economics, the following graduates were awarded Gold Medals:
1. Ms. Tehiyat Fatima, for the year 2013.
2. Ms. Laloona Jalwa, for the year 2014
3. Ms. Aisha, for the years 2015
Subsequently, in the M. Sc Home Economics Category, the following graduates were awarded Gold Medals:
1. Ms Sidra, for the years 2013
2. Ms. Nayaz Noor, for the years 2014
3. Ms. Gulsanga, for the years 2015

Addressing the Convocation ceremony Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani said that education especially that of the female folks were his government first priority. He added that for the purpose more women Universities have been inducted in the province whereas special emphasis was on the setting up of female colleges in order to make higher education accessible to the women of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The chief guest opined that educating a female was like educating a community and community colleges like the College of Home Economics can pave the way for development of entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises.
Commending the faculty of College of Home Economics he said that the college has got seasoned professionals and was one of the best colleges in Pakistan, devoted to the study of Home Economics and enabling the female students to meet the challenges of a free society.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan decleared the College as a gem of the University of Peshawar. In his address he said that the College was offering best Home Economics education for the last fifty four years where the institution equips young women with the specialized knowledge in the field of interior design, textile design, small business management, teaching, and research. Dr. Rasul Jan said that the University of Peshawar has opened new disciplines as per demand of the job market and in the recent years the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, Department of Regional Studies have been made operational. He added that from the ongoing academic year admissions in the Department of Criminology and Forensic Sciences have started which would lead to production of skilled graduate of the field. The Vice Chancellor on the occasion also announced the establishment of department of parliamentary studies in varsity which would provide hands on training to the legislators and politicians.
Earlier the Principal College of Home Economic in her performance report elaborated that Home Economics education offers degree in five separate disciplines with special emphasis on entrepreneurship development. She added that the college has 1500 students 80 faculty members and is offering PhD degree programme as well.
Published Schedule
17th Convocation 2016 is scheduled on 17th October 2016. Full day rehearsal will be on Saturday 15th October 2016. Graduates are already notified to be present till 8.30 a.m. on both rehearsal and convocation day whereas the college staff will be present 8:00 a.m. sharp for students/graduates facilitation.
Invitation letters are dispatched already to distinguished guests and participants. A total of 298 students of M.Sc and B.Sc are registered for award of degrees. The College of Home Economics, University of Peshawar is really proud of their new graduates and encourages them to serve in diverse professional fields.
A detailed Progress Report is been published to emphasis on college grooming in last three years. The annual report focuses on publications of our faculty members, conferences, seminars, co curricular activities, appointments, promotions etc.
