It is a great privilege and honour for me to assume the charge of the prestigious position of Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar. I still remember that day in August, 1975, when boarding a red double decker bus from GTS Station at Saddar, I stepped onto the Road # 2 on the university campus, seeking admission in one of the BS (Hons) programs at the University. Fast forward, August 7, 2017, driving from Gilgit , I culminated my journey at Road # 2 to reach the illustrious Administration Building to take charge as the Vice Chancellor of this alma matter.

College of Home Economics is a prestigious institution of the University of Peshawar which offers practical knowledge in diverse disciplines and incorporates a variety of skills in its curriculum. Thus, Home Economics education prepares the female community to deal with future challenges in the role of a homemaker as well as a career woman. I count myself among the blessed ones to be granted the opportunity of making a difference in the lives of these young souls in the capacity of an educationist and an administrator. I am also confident that under my leadership and guidance, the highly qualified and dedicated staff of this college will leave no stone unturned in improving the image and reputation of this institution. We shall constantly strive to inculcate critical thinking, analytical, entrepreneurial, inter personal and communication skills in our students.
Home Economics is a unique discipline having multiple facets and to make it compatible with the demands of contemporary world, we aim at academic up gradation through linkage programs with foreign universities and facilitating arrangement of internship for students at reputed organizations. Improvement in curriculum and college labs is also on our agenda. I hope that addressing these areas will have a positive impact on the overall performance of the students. I wish them all the best.

Initially, a separate department, devoted to the subject, was set-up in 1954 by the University of Peshawar, in collaboration with Colorado State University, USA. The department was later upgraded to College status in 1963. It is one of the four colleges in Pakistan devoted to the study of Home Economics, for developing a complete education programme for female students to meet the challenges of a free society. The institution equips young women with the specialized knowledge in the field of interior design, textile design, small business management, teaching, and research.
This field of study extends opportunities for pursuing careers in any of the above professions. Therefore, it has acquired a special significance in moulding the female generation, providing them with an opportunity to study a unique blend of both science and art related subjects. It also opens up future avenues for personal, professional and social enhancement...Read more
